South African-born actress CHARLIZE THERON became a U.S. citizen to bring an end to years of travel nightmares.
The 32-year-old star became a U.S. citizen last year (07), allowing her to vote in her first presidential election this November (08).
But she admits she was motivated by the convenience of being able to travel the world with an American passport instead of her South African one.
Theron says, "It (South Africa) wasn't like other countries where you're loved all over the world. When you have a South African passport, you have to get a visa for every country and it's a bit of a nightmare... it's nice to feel like I'm actually really home here."
